City of Dunedin
Implementation Plans
FY 2024-2025 Plan
The City of Dunedin, Florida, has developed an implementation plan for the allocation and utilization of opioid settlement funds, adhering to the requirements of Schedules A and B of the opioid settlement. The plan exclusively allocates a total of $32,301.05 to support first responders who experience secondary trauma from opioid-related emergency events. This funding will be used to provide wellness and support services through Tampa Bay Psychology for first responders employed with the City, with no capital outlay or vehicle purchases involved.
The implementation timeline spans from the fourth quarter of 2024 through the fourth quarter of 2025, during which the City plans to continuously offer support services to its first responders. This initiative aims to address the psychological impacts, including PTSD, resiliency, and substance abuse issues, that first responders face due to their exposure to opioid-related emergencies. To ensure the effectiveness and compliance of the support services with industry standards, the City will conduct regular monitoring and evaluation. This includes yearly reviews and updates of contracts and training programs, as well as detailed analyses from contractors on the number of participants in classes and therapy sessions, and the content of these sessions. Contractors are also required to report on the number of new and recurring patients seen in therapy sessions, without disclosing patient identities.
The plan emphasizes the importance of regular reporting to an oversight committee, which will review progress, outcomes, and any necessary adjustments to the implementation plan. This structured approach aims to ensure that the funded programs are effectively supporting first responders and aligning with the best practices in addressing opioid-related secondary trauma.
In summary, the City of Dunedin’s implementation plan for the opioid settlement funds is a focused effort to support first responders affected by opioid-related incidents through psychological services. By dedicating the entire settlement amount to this cause, and establishing a detailed timeline and evaluation framework, the City aims to mitigate the impact of opioid incidents on first responders and ensure the program’s success and compliance with the settlement’s stipulations.
